President’s Report – 2011 / 2012
Welcome to the AGM for the 2011/2012 season. This year our numbers were down a bit on previous years but this has been offset by the huge growth in U8 and U9’s playing on Friday night. Hopefully we will retain these numbers and continue to grow ..
We have had another successful season on the field. The U15 Eagle Hawks won the Premiership for their division. The club also had eleven boys who were selected in Brisbane North representative sides which competed over the Christmas break. In our senior/warehouse ranks, Albany Creek teams qualified for the semi-finals in the B2 and B3 grades. Unfortunately both these matches were completely washed out without a ball bowled. Currently we have thirteen sides playing in the Winter& Warehouse competition. Six of these are Junior teams with the remaining seven made up of four father/son sides.
At this time of the year there are many people to thank as clubs of our size do not just happen. To all the people on the committee and their partners/spouses, I thank you for the countless hours of dedicated service. Dianne Cook, our statistician, did another superb job throughout the season and then on Presentation Day. Eddie Mills has been tireless in her efforts with the Hawk Talk and also in her new role as Warehouse Registrar. I would like to offer a special thank you to the members of the Frazer, Chaffey and Mills families in particular for their help every Friday night with our Night Cricket. It has been extremely successful. Brett Hutton, Mike Whitney and Gary Logan have also helped with the mowing of the grass pitches every Friday.
A very special thanks also to all our coaches and managers who have put in the hard yards on a weekly basis. Many of these people have been at the club for five or six years or more and their contribution has been invaluable. The fact that these coaches keep coming back says a lot for us as a club and is responsible for the stability and confidence that you as parents have in the care that they exercise over your children.
To all the parents who have assisted with scoring and generally organizing the boys on Saturday morning, I extend a huge thank you. As with last year, we have been hampered by bad weather. We had two wholesale cancellations and several weekends when only a small number of teams played. Hopefully our network of communication in the club has helped out in this regard.
I would also like to thank all our sponsors for their ongoing contributions to Albany Creek Cricket Club. Our two major sponsors, Bradford and LJ Hooker of Albany Creek have certainly allowed us to keep our fees down and thus keep more children on the fields. Thanks for your support.
Gary Logan is standing down from his role as Registrar for next season. Gary has been with the club for nearly ten years now as a coach, Registrar and general great committee person. I wish him well in the future and hope that through his youngest son, he may be back in the coming years Thanks mate. I wish you all many pleasant sleep-ins on Saturday mornings and look forward to seeing you all next summer.
